It may be cliche, but Keto is not just a diet. It is a way of life that actually gives you your life back.
Keto4Karboholics came about after a huge lifestyle change. My husband and I were at the heaviest we have ever been in our lives. We had always been slender and athletic, but somewhere between college and having two kids our bodies changed... and not for the better. While neither of us considered ourselves "overweight" at the time, we were. We got winded chasing the kids at the park, we would snack anytime we weren't occupied, and we rarely had a meal without a starch.
Then our "Ahhh" moment came. In the summer of 2017, my husband, two kids, and myself went on a vacation to the UK for a month (yes... we are brave). It was our dream vacation (Harry Potter, Outlander, and Game of Thrones fans as well as history buffs)! But, I found myself hiding from pictures or contorting my body to find "the skinny angle". I didn't like the pictures that I was in and hated putting on clothes that weren't made with stretchy flowing fabrics. I didn't want to be the woman that only had pictures of her with some strange animal filter on her that made her look 15 lbs slimmer!
So, my husband and I came home from vacation and jumped right into the Ketogenic diet. We had both tried the diet before and knew the principles and science around the diet. However, this time we were both committed to a lifestyle change. I started easy by making very basic meals every day. Then, when I began to miss my old meals, I started experimenting and making new recipes that reminded me of some of my carb heavy favorites! Soon I was making a recipe a day.
Some of our relatives noticed we had both been losing a lot of weight and wanted our "secret"... so we told them it was keto! I started Keto4Karboholics as a way to share these recipes and offer support to family and friends looking into the ketogenic lifestyle. And the rest, as they say, is history!
